About

From the time I was young, I wanted to travel. So it was fitting that, at the age of fifteen, I moved with my family to a rural region of Uganda, called Karamoja. Four years later, after shifting my life from East Africa back to the United States, I created this blog.

In the local dialect of Karamoja, a camera is called ibore ngini ikamere ngitorubei, which roughly translated means, "the thing which captures shadows." That phrase has been the inspiration for the title and theme of this blog. Africa will always hold its place in my heart, but capturing shadows is dedicated to loving and capturing the simple moments of everyday life here my current corner of Pennsylvania.

I am a lover of words, a lover of beauty and a student of quiet thought.
