I made this crostata on Saturday afternoon using a bit of leftover pie crust, cinnamon and just a pinch of brown sugar. Apples aren't in season, I know. In fact, these three were tucked in the back corner of the fridge, almost forgotten and well past their prime.
It should be known that not all Saturdays are winners, and this particular one was fraught with unaccomplished tasks. Despite the lack of momentum, it felt good rid the fridge of bruising fruit and bake something worth enjoying. I suppose, in a way, this crostata was Saturday's redemption.
