a butterfly bush
No butterflies have yet discovered this small bush, but, personally, I'm pleased as punch about the three conoidal bouquets of tiny blooms that have appeared over the last few days. We transplanted a cutting from from an Aunt's house in Philadelphia last autumn, and now that the plant has quadrupled in size, producing true July blossoms, it seems to me that those daily morning waterings, the careful winter coverings, and that time I stood ankle deep in snow to save the poor thing from a tangled mess of garbage (the result of a nasty wind storm) so very worth the effort.
Let metaphors about growth and plants and life and time abound.
