the best piety
"The best piety is to enjoy - when you can. You are doing the most to save earth's character as an agreeable planet. And enjoyment radiates. It is of no use to try and take care of all the world; that is being taken care of when you feel delight - in art or in anything else"
(George Eliot, Middlemarch)

Over the weekend, I had a stack of books, aching to be read. But they stayed unopened as I remembered that other things sometimes take precedence.
These early morning Sunday walks--where we literally roll out of bed and walk straight out the door, a thermos of tea in hand--are something I will achingly miss come winter.
