stitch + knit

I have a friend who can knit anything she sets her mind to. Like Madame Defarge, her fingers fly, deftly creating a collection of socks, scarves and sweaters over the course of one season. 

Myself, I can muster up just enough determination to knit one scarf per winter. I begin in October, full of resolve and gumption that slowly diminishes, little by little, till I finally finish in February, and have a just a few weeks to wear my creation before Spring begins to creep its way into my wardrobe. If I had the time and the patience, I would make myself one of these this year. I particularly like the last two.
