Leftover Roses

The guests came and went.

The bridal shower, a small affair for a friend, was lit with white lights and our house was littered with pink roses. Although the house still feels a little empty, I am finding that opening up an imperfect home to guests can make it feel quite full.

Imperfections--like the stark line on our stair wall where we stopped painting out of exhaustion--are not always things to be hidden or ashamed of. Imperfections can be the fodder for conversation and friendship. Sometimes throwing a party after hard week can be more healing than I realized.

The leftover roses helped, too.
